They are only minimally receptive to the world around them, only knowing how to take orders, make animal-like noises and exhibit human fear. the Ruili gynoids are the only other female characters in the game, they are also passive recepticles for abuse they are regularly raped, mutilated, threatened and broken by their owners.

While there are b-plots, Taoluo only gets closer to his goal by meeting both one of Ruili’s killers and their respective gynoid, and the condition of the latter is used to characterize the former (the game actually uses the abuse of the Ruili gynoids as a framing device to explain details about the abuser, their motives and their life). What I refer to when I mention the misogyny in this game (title is a joke btw I don’t think Urobuchi is sexist LOL) is that the progression of the plot is entirely measured in how much physical or psychological abuse Taoluo witnesses the Ruili gynoids endure- to the point were actually introduced to the abuse of a Ruili gynoid before we get to see Ruili herself.
